Dermal Fillers
Am I a good candidate for a dermal filler procedure?
As we age, levels of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin, naturally-occurring substances in the skin that provide structure and volume, start to deplete. This causes the cheeks to flatten, hollows to appear under the eyes, folds between the nose and mouth and lack of definition on the jawline. Dermal fillers are injected underneath the skin to plump up folds and wrinkles.
Aside from its anti-ageing effects, dermal fillers can also be used to camouflage any lumps and bumps on the nose to produce a non-surgical nose job or reshape and fill overly-thin or asymmetrical lips. They can also be used to fill scars.
The dermal filler consultation
During your dermal filler consultation, Mr Yousefpour will discuss your concerns and assess whether dermal fillers can provide you with the results you are hoping for. If there is a marked loss of skin elasticity then dermal fillers may not produce the results you are hoping for and you may require facial cosmetic surgery.
Dermal fillers come in a number of different consistencies, with the lightest suitable for fine lines, such as around the mouth and thicker fillers for deeper lines, grooves and filling of areas such as the cheeks. Often, to produce optimum results, Mr Yousefpour will combine dermal fillers with other surgical or non-surgical procedures such as Botox. Alternatively, a fat transfer might be a preferred option as it can produce longer-lasting results.
What does a dermal filler procedure involve?
A dermal filler procedure can be uncomfortable and the skin can be numbed with a topical local anaesthetic cream beforehand.
Are there any risks and complications associated with a dermal filler procedure?
There may be a degree of redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites, but they can usually be covered with make-up and will quickly subside. Other side effects are relatively rare.
These are temporary dermal fillers of synthetic hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin, so it is usually very well-tolerated. Mr Yousefpour does not use permanent dermal fillers as they can cause permanent problems if there is a reaction and they can be difficult to remove.
What results can I expect from my dermal filler procedure?
Results are instantaneous and can last over 12 months, depending on where the filler has been injected and the individual’s own reaction. An experienced and skilled practitioner such as Mr Yousefpour can produce a beautifully natural enhancement with dermal fillers.
